    Bionicle at Comic-Con Part II
Hot Bionicle NewsSaturday, July 24th, 2004 at 3:43am by Mark, BZPower Reporter

There is lots of news to report from this years World famous San Diego Comic-Con and we have it all for you, and we have it for you first. Read on for details and pictures you will not want to miss out on.

As you make your way over to the Bionicle booth you can’t miss it. There is a huge display that towers over many of the booths and really does look nice. The booth is about the same size as last year, but laid out differently. Greg F is there signing comics as before, there is a big TV screen that is showing the DVD extras from the upcoming Bionicle movie, and there are some nice displays showcasing each stage of the Bionicle storyline and even the larger than life Toa Vakama display (as seen in the TRU in Times Square) is there looking over everything. And making its first appearance was the actual DVD case for the upcoming Bionicle movie.

There is lots of Lego VIPs there also. Greg F is at the show all weekend signing comics, Randy Elliot will be making a short appearance Saturday signing the comics with Greg F. Also there is the famous Leah and Brian, yes, this is the very same Leah and Brian that gives us much of our Bionicle news. Leah flew in from Denmark just for this show. And there to oversee all of the Lego happenings is Jake McKee, who is the community person for all of the AFOLs out there. You can see Jake, Leah and Greg in the picture below, make sure to check it out!

One of the most wanted items from the Con was the exclusive Kanoka disk with the Comic-Con logo on it, but as we reported first due to a production error they were not made and will never be given out. There is only a few that were samples and used for the few promotional images to promote the disk. But, they do have the Toa Vakama set with the images of the disk on it and they are still limited to only 5,000 cans. But due to the fact there is no disk you can get these at a cheaper price, there is also a limit of one per person. The lids are also the glitter-type lids, but I found out that there is nothing special about the glitter lids, they were just made to make the sets stand out more.

But wait – just when you thought there was no more Comic-Con exclusive items they sneak one more in! There is a shirt they will only sell at the Con that is black and features the very well liked Vahki ‘Surrender Or Run’ logo on the front and a very neat Bionicle image on the back. These will only be sold at the Comic-Con and are more “cutting edge” to appeal to the Comic-Con crowd. This is a very cool shirt that they have in both kids and adult sizes.

And if you can make it to the Con on Sunday you are in for a real treat! This will be when the movie question and answer panel will take place. Just like last year the makers of the movie will be there to answer questions posed to them. And the first part of the movie will be shown! I have been told anywhere from the first 10 minutes to the first 30 minutes of the film will be shown to the attendees. So if you can make it on Sunday you will have a very special treat. And if you go – look for me! I will be there covering the event for BZPower! So make sure you find me and say hi! Discuss This Story
