A Visit to Headquarters: Part I
Hot Bionicle NewsSunday, June 29th, 2003 at 10:28am by Rich, BZPower Administrator

A little more than a week ago I announced that I was a guest of the LEGO Company at their HQ in Enfield, CT. Today I’m going to start a series of reports on exactly what LEGO Sales HQ in the Americas is like, what kind of stuff they do there, and what I got while I was there in terms of product and information. For today, I’ll start off with the place itself.

    Betsy Ross

The LEGO Company is located in Enfield, CT. Enfield is located right by the Massachusetts/Connecticut border, and is about 3 hours from New York City. The town of Enfield is a small rural town, and is not the place you would expect a major corporation like LEGO to be housed in.

    Ladder Kid

There are a series of buildings in the LEGO complex, but I only visited two of them. The rest will be covered next time I visit. The two I visited were the factory and the office building.

    Waiting Room

Obviously, the first thing I had to do was check in at the front desk and alert the people who were hosting me that I was there. The front desk is located in the lobby, and because the is a LEGO office, there are LEGO statues in the lobby as well. You have seen some of them above.

    Rahkshi Display

As I walked down the corridor I was able to get a glimpse of the first Bionicle display, which was fittingly of the Rahkshi variety.

After meeting with people like the Brand Manager, the Assistant Brand Manager, and Greg Farshtey, we headed down to lunch. Normally one would not expect lunch to be such a big deal, but this is the LEGO Company, so even lunch was interesting there.

    Soda Mechine Minifig

In turns out that they have a series of statues in the cafeteria as well. A few minifig guys were located next to a soda machine.

    Statue of Liberty

Also in the Cafeteria was a very large statue of liberty that looked like it had been there for ages.

After lunch I went back to talk with a few more people. Upon leaving, I got to walk past life-sized statues of NBA players such as Jason Kidd pictured below.

    Jason Kidd

After all was said and done, I spent 7 hours there learning things, meeting with people, and getting tours. This report was just the walkthrough of the building and the complex, and wasn’t even all that I could have reported on in terms of the building and complex. What took place while I was there is coming up in a future report, so stay tuned!
