Tables brimming with Bionicle pieces, flat widescreen monitors blaring and glass display cases gleaming, the moderately sized Bionicle Experience room opened to enthusiastic crowds in Legoland California. BZPower assistant admin Mfuss was there and kindly provided some pictures of its first weekend.
The grand opening appears to be next week, but the room is now open for all to enjoy. Located in the Imagination Zone, Bionicle Evolution occupies the high-traffic corner area formerly devoted to Galidor. Tables with thousands of Bionicle pieces were open for guests to build (but not buy), with gleaming metal bowls providing ample parts for experimenting.
While snapping pieces together at the large black tables, visitors can watch a widescreen video of the evolution of Bionicle since its inception in 2001. Each significant release of the featured year is displayed, including a few seconds of each of the character animations we're all familiar with. Also shown are some brand-new Rahkshi and Takanuva clips with scenes not even included on the Rahkshi CD-ROMs. Display cases full of the important releases from the last three years run the length of the room, and Rahkshi posters hang from girders around the area. Collectors will be interested in viewing the original framed comic art. There were even some real custom California license plates, presumably from a previous van tour.

Costumed characters are scheduled to make an appearance, probably starting next weekend.
