    Advertising Policy Revised
BZPowerThursday, July 25th, 2013 at 7:41pm by Andrew, BZPower News Manager

BZPower has long had a very rigid and stringent advertising policy limiting what our members could link to on the site. There are several reasons for this, but primarily we want BZPower to be a family-friendly place, and lets be honest, a lot of stuff on the Internet isn't very family-friendly. But still, times change, and BZPower must be dragged kicking and screaming into the future. That's why today we're announcing a major overhaul to our advertising policy and some new functionality on the site to help us keep our family-friendly focus.

Sometime later today, when you click on most external links on the forums, you will see a popup warning you that the site you are going to is not a part of BZPower and that we are not responsible for the content you may come across there. I know that's going to annoy and frustrate some of you, but the flipside is this: go check out the BZPower Advertising Policy - as you can see, we are no longer limiting what you can link to. Post your YouTube video, your facebook profile, that other LEGO fan forum you go to, it's pretty much all fair game now. Additionally, some popular sites that could be linked to previously with no problems will be excluded from the popup - places like LEGO, Brickshelf, Majhost, and Flickr. I think the new range of things you can link to should outweigh having to deal with a little popup. I hope you all agree.

Before I finish here, one last caveat - this does not mean you can now link to whatever you want. All content should still be BZPower appropriate. This means no graphic violence, explicit sexual content, swearing, religion, politics, etc. If you couldn't copy it and post it directly onto BZPower, please don't link to it. The staff will be checking and we hope that if you guys come across an inappropriate link you'll help us out and report it.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding as BZPower slowly opens up to the rest of the Internet. I look forward to the new opportunities this will bring.
