NYCC LEGO Booth Makes Awesome Impression
Hot Bionicle NewsFriday, October 10th, 2014 at 11:21am by Benjamin, BZPower Reporter

New York Comic Con started yesterday will all kinds of panels, vendors, guest appearances and show floor exhibits. BZPower was there for the invite-only panel with The LEGO Group, but beforehand we were some of the first to see TLG's booth on the show floor. That's right, Bionicle is coming back in full force and LEGO wants everyone at NYCC to know. Check out just what LEGO put on to make a good first impression to the convention-goers.

As the group of us BZPower Staff walked onto the showroom floor, it was impossible to miss LEGO's booth as it stood tall over everything else and was mostly centered between all the other vendors. From a distance the video could be seen on the big screen of TVs, so of course we all headed straight in that direction.

And there it was, the Mask of Creation itself floating above a stone pedestal with mist emerging around it. Columns were in the corners sporting the same engravings as seen on the pedestal, and a banner displaying a lava environ was under the TVs. We were quickly ushered behind the main attraction to be given a NYCC exclusive transparent Tahu mask and some posters. There are only 200 masks given out each day this weekend and the posters change each day as well.

As far as first impressions go, this one did the trick in perpetuating the excitement level of the booth and making everyone at the convention know that Bionicle was coming back. Given the background of many fans attending a convention like this, they were probably aware of the Bionicle and LEGO building system and may have even enjoyed playing with them before. This made NYCC the perfect place to announce the return of a theme after a short absence from the toy store shelves.

After the panel with various TLG staff, including Brand Manager for Bionicle Rob Johnson, the Design Marketing Director, the Creative Lead, and the Art Director, we had the chance to go back to the LEGO booth where the six Toa sets were now on display, originally shown off at the panel. Seeing the sets up close like this completely outshines any pictures seen online. The colors are vibrant, the details on each piece are enhanced by the bright lighting, and nothing beats seeing them in person.

BZPower also had the chance to interview various TLG staff that helped make the return of Bionicle, and the display at NYCC, possible. Keep following the BZPower news all day on the front page for more exciting NYCC coverage!
