Discuss This Story Hot Bionicle NewsThursday, October 24th, 2002 at 1:05pm by Rich, BZPower Administrator

    1) Who is Takanuva? A BZPower story lists him as one of the characters
for the voices in the new movie.

    Can't answer movie plot questions.

    2) "Graalok the Ash Bear"? Somehow I have stuck in my head an image of
Gummi Bears or Care Bears or other such saccharine schmaltz. I simply can't
see myself wanting to see a movie where Tahu stalks up to a fuzzy wuzzy
sitting in a tree and getting advice like, "You must play well with your
friends, and remember your enemies are just friends you haven't met yet."
Please, please do something (anything) to dispell this sickening image from
    my noodle.

I am sure an ash bear would get a laugh out of your
comparing him to a Care Bear.. after he finishing devouring you, that is.

    3) It's apparent the storyline of Bionicle was created as a mechanism
to sell toys. But did the designers of the legend foresee the story
generating as much interest and attention to detail from Bionicle
enthusiasts that it has? For example, all the people on BZP delving into
minute or obscure or unexplained details. (Insert William Shatner's "Get a
life, people!" comment if so inclined.)

I think there was always a lot of attention paid to the need
to maintain internal consistency, to control the storyline so it didn't go
in seven different directions, and to make sure everything we do feeds back
    into the central, overall storyline.

    4) Given #3 above, is there any interest within LEGO or with you in
"filling in" the nooks and crannies of the storyline that aren't vital to
the main story? For example, you mentioned that Tahu was really Krana'd, but
that wasn't imperative to the story so it didn't get shown. I for one would
welcome an "official" or "semi-official" telling of some of these stories,
if you were amenable (and LEGO agreed, of course).

I think it is a fine idea, but I do not know where or when
    it could be done.

    5) What happened to the bahrag? Will they ever return?
Keep an eye on the comic.

    6) Will the new enemies have minions, or are they themselves the
    underlings of Makuta?

No, none of the new foes will have the equivalent of "Va."

    7) Will there be any other new mask designs coming out in the near
future? I think I remember hearing that somewhere.

Not that I know of. I have heard rumors about different
colors of masks, but at this point, those are just rumors.

    8) What happens when a Bionicle dies? eg Do their eyes go out, and
they go all limp? Do they fall to pieces?

I am not sure that BIONICLE characters/creatures can die as
we understand death. But I imagine that if they did die, it would not be
that much different than death is for us.

    9) Will the new enemies use kanohi/krana or any type of mask?
    something new maybe?

None of the new foes will use Kanohi or any other type of
mask, as far as I am aware.

    10) What is a Matoran? In other words, is a Matoran just a
new name for the Tohunga, or does it consist of everyone. Hafu, Huki, Onewa
and Pohatu are all Po-Korans. Does this mean that these four are now
Matorans, or only Hafu and Huki?

"Matoran" is only used to refer to the villagers, although
technically a Turaga is a Matoran who has ascended to a leadership role. But
when we use it, we mean villagers.

    10) Also, what happened to the original masks when the Toa Nuva formed?
Are they still around or did they sort of vanish?

The gold masks may have vanished, or they may have morphed
into the Kanohi Nuva the Toa Nuva now wear. Only time will tell.

    11) Will we have rahi and bohrok nuva as the new enemies?
A Bohrok Nuva would be a Bohrok exposed to protodermis and
mutated/evolved by it .. so no. And the new foes are not new Rahi either.

    12) We all know that the vahi is a promotion but will it ever make an
appearance in a up-coming story line & who will be using it, a new Evil
    perhaps ??

I am hoping to work the Vahi into the comic by March or May.

    13) I know this might sound strange but when you are scanning the forums
do you look at our little ideas, Do they inspire you in the slightest way ??

I try to avoid looking at any story ideas or fan fiction for
legal reasons. Since I write the comic and have some small hand in
contributing to the story team's plotting, it would be legally unwise of me
    to read outside ideas.

    14)  so next years storyline will be split into 2 sections, first
being next enemies and second being mask of light, is this true?

    Yes.

    15) Will we get to see the Toa use their "alternate" modes in the
    comics?

You will get to see Nuva Kaita, yes.

    16) Also, will we ever see the original toa in the comics, like a
    flashback?

    Possibly, I don't know.

    17) Does lego ever give you any free stuff?
I can get LEGO sets at discount through the company, because
I am an employee, but not for free.

    18) Why can't you accept or even see fan ideas? What legal trouble would
that get Lego in, and why?

See answer to #13. I don't want to risk accidentally using someone
else's idea or someone else's dialogue in something, so it makes more sense
to just avoid looking at any of it.
