Bio-Cup 2023 Round One had a lot of fun Biome subthemes, including Caves, Deserts, and Flatlands. Today we're going to feature the MOCs built for these. Read on to see them all.
Guardian of the Crystal Cave by Iggs Subtheme: Caves
This cave dweller is quite colorful, with a nice wreath of flowers surrounding a very viney face. The bush elements on the limbs also work very well.
Mr. Silesian the Miner by Kaneczi 1 Subtheme: Caves
This miner is hard at work. The spike armor always works great as a beard in a pinch, but I also like the big jacket and pick axe.
The Byvern by Sarahtonin Subtheme: Caves
The teal spine really jumps out on this critter, and makes a good use of repeated elements. Plus, check out that smile.
Bloodback Burrower by Kat's Koncepts Subtheme: Caves
I'm not sure what to make of this reptilians, but I wouldn't want to meet him underground. The limbs have a solid flow to them and the mask on the torso is impressive.
Curious Caving Critters by Student Scissors Subtheme: Caves
This is a fun little scene with a mole and a bat, but I especially like how the mole has the color scheme as Rock Raiders and the bat matches with Power Miners.
Cactus Scorpion by Sam Skillern Subtheme: Desert
This scorpion is perhaps not the most technical build, but I really appreciate the bright contrasting colors, and the outdoor photography really works here.
Cactus by Sapphirewashere Subtheme: Desert
This cactus appears fairly simply, but it reuses the same parts to give a very organic looking shape of the spiky plant.
Xerxes, Echoes Through the Sands by AJRed17 Subtheme: Desert
The character's red jacket is simple but effective. Still, I appreciate the details that went into the landscape, with some clever Bionicle pieces incorporated in, especially the limb pieces on the back arch.
In a Pinch by DanielBrickSon Subtheme: Desert
I don't know what's better here, the fantastic bird model or the bright and colorful cactus. The two great builds really go together.
Horizon Lancer by Will Kessler Subtheme: Flatlands
This one feels like it would've made a great Bionicle set. The pose of the steed certain sets the scene, and the simple color scheme of the rider stands out. (Also like the addition of the plant stems to flesh out the environment.)
Beast-God of the Mammoth Steppe by Ecto Subtheme: Flatlands
This mammoth is really decked out with some fancy details. Although I suspect that the trunk isn't flexible, the repeated use of the wheel pieces certain makes it look like it can move around. And the rings used on the tusks are quite fancy.
Roaming the Flatlands by Konstantin T Subtheme: Flatlands
Don't you just hate it when you come across killer tripods on your walks. The technical robot has a stark contrast against the more natural landscape (which is well built just using the shell elements) and it comes as a nice contrast.
Hydrodont-XL by Cody Avery Subtheme: Flatlands
This elephant is very tough looking, but the panel ears and the curved gear tusks are the highlights.
Harvest Merchants by Eero Okkonen Subtheme: Flatlands
There is so much character in these little Matoran figures, from theirs outfits to their goods on the back of their hungry steed. This really sells their culture.
We've got a lot more MOCs to feature from the Bio-Cup Round One, so make sure to stay tuned to BZPower to see more of them. Bio-Cup is again going strong this year, with lots of amazing creations. Which builder do you think will win this year?
