Bio-Cup 2023 Preliminary Round Part 7
Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 at 2:01am by Jason, BZPower Reporter
It's time for one final look at entries from the Bio-Cup 2023 Preliminary Round. While many entries took a straightforward approach at the theme of Villains, a few went with more abstract ideas, and these are what are being shared here today. Which one of these evil takes scares you the most?
Octan by PaulvilleMOCs
If the oil industry isn't evil, then I don't know what is. A very clever concept, and some cool designs to make an oil rig a mecha. Plus the background edit fits too.
The One Percent by Mucus Drizzle
This is a clever way of villainizing the rich. The suit is sleek but simple, and I like the imagery of the houses in the palm of his hand, as he's obviously controlling the real estate market. The money and smokestacks also sell the theme.
Witch Doctor - Evil Psychiatrist by Dan V
The character isn't very spectacular looking, but he still has a well built design. Plus, this is a fun spin on the theme idea. Whoever lost that arm could probably use some tissues.
Late Stage Capitalism
This looks straight from a political comic about Capitalism, the truest evil of them all. The chair and the chubby businessman have neat builds, but the thin spine of the poor man being made using a Tohunga arm is perfect. A shame he won't get more than a few drips.
Guitar Hero by Iggs
He has a lot of cool designs here, from the shoes to the mow hawk and Ruru shoulder pads. But I like the flame wing pieces on the guitar the most.
Il Maestro Di Violino by Ted Andes
A clever take on Villain and Violin. That said, I'm impressed by how well the violin character turned out; tacky but neat still.
The Datasaver (He Remembers) by guromow0o
He's a bit too system heavy, but I like how the arcade game piece was incorporated into his head. And that face gives him plenty of character.
The Lich by micr_omega
The Lich's body may mostly be hidden, but the arms and head look particularly nice, especially the curves on the one horn. Finn works here too. Unfortunately, this one didn't get the pass into Round 1.
That's it for the Preliminary Round, but we still have a lot more MOCs left to feature from Bio-Cup. We'll be looking at Round One MOCs next, so make sure to stay tuned to BZPower to see more of them. Bio-Cup is again going strong this year, with lots of amazing creations. Which builder do you think will win this year?
