    Bio-Cup 2023 Preliminary Round Part 4
Hot Bionicle NewsSunday, June 25th, 2023 at 1:50am by Jason, BZPower Reporter

Lets take another look at some Bio-Cup 2023 Preliminary Round entries. Monsters have always been a good source of villainy, from lords of water or ice to demons and dragons. And builders have delivered on all of these; read on to check them out.

Lord of the Trench by VelociJACKtor

    Lord of the Trench

I really like the ocean vibes he has going here, from the tentacle beard to the coral and sea anemonies The blue and shape of the arms does look a bit like flowing water. That mini sub is doomed.

Aurgelmir, Lord of Frost by Bionic Supreme

    AURGELMIR, LORD OF FROST

The blue and white ice motif is nice, and I like how the face utilizes the piece as a beard. Those arms are also clever tentacles, and that's a lot of fun detail on the axe.

Prince of the Void by Calcifer_project

    Prince of the Void

This guy has a lot of cool elements from his head to his chest and thighs, but dang if those wings don't impress the most. Great use of so many of them, it looks very solid!

    Bloody Thorn by Djokson

    Bloody Thorn

From a glance, I thought this devil had a nice slim figure, but I was more impressed when I realized it's the combination of two masks. The tentacle arms and blindfolded head continue to work with this character.

    Balrog Queen by lego8110

    炎魔女王 Balrog Queen

This is a neat devil with some nice colors and a fancy face. (And can't choose between Rahkshi heads or curved armor on the chest? Use both!) Still, the flame sculpture is the most impressive feature, if just because I know how fragile those pieces are to stack like that.

The Shadow of Death by Sam Skillern

    The Shadow of Death

There's a nice use of Duplo plant parts as the wings, and some clever repetition of tentacles. But I think the glow in the dark elements and photography are what really make this stand out.

Oni and the Dragon, Tyrants of Earth and Above by AjRed17

Oni and the Dragon, Tyrants of Earth and Above

Is this perhaps a Ninjago reference? Either way, the dragon has a great design with a good use of the colors, and the Oni's jacket is quite good too.

    Sea Monster 2/3 by filbrick

    Sea monster 2/3

This little guy is just adorable. For his small scale, he has a lot of neat designs in his tentacles and eyes and cute little teeth.

    Shadow Sorceress by Sarahtonin

    Shadow Sorceress

The wisps on the top of the cape are nice, as are the chain belt. The krana here works well as the sorceress' face, complete with a fancy hat.

We've got a lot more MOCs to feature from the Bio-Cup Preliminary Round, so make sure to stay tuned to BZPower to see more of them. Bio-Cup is again going strong this year, with lots of amazing creations. Which builder do you think will win this year?
