Bio-Cup 2023 Preliminary Round Part 3

Time for more Bio-Cup 2023 Preliminary Round coverage. Robots tend to be a scary subject, and I generally think we all fear that they will take our jobs, replace our society on the planet, or cast us into an unending sleep so they can take control of all the Matoran inside our bodies. From bolts to Bionicle, what follows are a few menacing mechanical MOCs that fit the theme.
Dr. Gila by MySnailEatsPizza
This guy has some clever design choices. I thought at first that the kraata container containing the brain would be the best feature, and then I realized his torso is also transparent and showing his innards. Very impressive.
Medbot 5000 by Dylan Mievis
The procedure did not go well. I like the sleek white and blue design of the bot, which does lead to a sterilized medical look... but the bits of red totally sell the change in the character. Nicely done.
Elite Serrator by Mitch Henry
There are a lot of interesting pieces used here, from the Galidor armor to the various tentacles and gear elements. And apparently the blade function works, which is impressive.
The Royal Vizier by alex_mocs
The contrast between the two characters is really nice here, and the black elements used on the larger figures are impressive, especially the strap and chains.
The Prince's Advisor by Grayson
This guy is very regal, and the chains and tubbing work great for his robes, in addition to the head pieces as cuff links. Didn't even realize it was a remake of a Bionicle polybag character at first!
Dark Hunter Lhikan by J6Crash
A fun recreation of the Hero Toa. I like how one side is nicely mechanical, and the various rubber band colors totally sell the concept of inner circuitry. Nicely done.
Prof. Dr. Octolegs by Ron Folkers
What is Vezon mixed with Doc Ock? The use of the tubing and the pose here really works out well, and I like the goggles built over the mask too.
Essence of Zaktan - Protodite by Alxe Mertens
Bionicle Gen 1 had some cool concepts, but none of the builds were this rad. A recreation of a combo build, this multi-headed beast makes great use of colors and spikes to give it an intimidating appearance. The Glow in the Dark elements also stand out nicely.
We've got a lot more MOCs to feature from the Bio-Cup Preliminary Round, so make sure to stay tuned to BZPower to see more of them. Bio-Cup is again going strong this year, with lots of amazing creations. Which builder do you think will win this year?
