    Bio-Cup 2023 Preliminary Round Part 2
Hot Bionicle NewsFriday, June 23rd, 2023 at 7:45am by Jason, BZPower Reporter

Our coverage of the Bio-Cup 2023 Preliminary Round continues. On a primal level, there are many animals that we fear and thus villainize, and that could explain some of the entries here, which focus on scary bugs, felines, and other creatures of the night. Read on to see some of the creepy creatures that've been built.

    Shrimply Villainous by Cornbuilder

    Shrimply Villainous

This is a neat concept. The fryer is very basic but the action in the cooking oil and arm sticking out of it work really well. The shrimp himself looks okay, but the eyebrows and mustache really give off his evilness.

Taba the Outlaw by Renzari Kenjo

    Taba the Outlaw

This bug isn't going to let you swat him. I like the mix of the fly parts with cowboy aesthetics. And hey, the Humungousaur had returns, although with some additions this time.

    Mordred's a-Hungry by Nuhvok_mok

    "Mordred's a-hungry"

This is a really creepy spider, but it also has a very organic feel to it. The silver microphone eyes are nice, and the Ruru (with eyes) is a great touch for the abdomen design.

    Crimson Opressor by Radar

    Crimson Opressor

This sleek bug design has me questioning if it was made of LEGO at first, but it is, and it has great flow to it.

Lurrus The Banned by Will Kessler

    Lurrus The Banned

It's always cool to see a fun cat model, but this one does a really good job with the Piraka spines. The mini kitty is another great addition.

    Neural-Rider by Luterem

    Neural-Rider

There's a lot of black on this rider and his mount, but it helps make the other colors pop out, like the purple tail, lime reins, and trans red face. They're quite imposing together.

It's the Wolf Man by Magmafrost13

    Its the Wolf Man

This wolf man is insanely good. A lot of good designs went into his fur, and that head steals the show. (And also that arm.)

Jonah & the Scrimshawed God by Benjamin Anderson

    Jonah & the Scrimshawed God

There's a lot to like in this scene. The skeletal god is very eye catching, and makes great use of spikes and tentacles. The fisher himself is a very solid model, and the various blue elements do give the appearance of rough seas. Poor whale tho.

We've got a lot more MOCs to feature from the Bio-Cup Preliminary Round, so make sure to stay tuned to BZPower to see more of them. Bio-Cup is again going strong this year, with lots of amazing creations. Which builder do you think will win this year?
