    Prisoners of the Pit Collab
BZPowerSunday, February 26th, 2023 at 3:16am by Jason, BZPower Reporter

Earlier this month, MOC channels became flooded by a rush of new MOCs featuring all the Bionicle sets from 2007 as part of the Prisoners of the Pit Collaboration. A lot of talented Bionicle builders recreated the Barraki, Toa Mahri, and other Matoran and Titans from the era, with some of the builds staying true to the original set and some of them taking the subject into a very different direction. Read on to see the full set of creations, and let us know which is your favorite of the batch!

    Kalmah by Aiden.Builds

    Kalmah

Kalmah skipped over squid-like and went straight to eldritch horror. The tentacles on him are quite impressive, as is the hexagon shaped face / mouth. The use of the original mask on the legs is great, especially for that color transition.

    Carapar by Cornbuilder

    Carapar

Carapar gets a few more crab-like features, but he's still suitably bulky and looks like he could tear you limb from limb. The second pair of arms, upgraded squid launcher, and golden armor bits all look good, but the new face design is easily the best part of the model.

    Mantax by Nikita Nikolsky

    Mantax, the Fallen Sea Angel

Mantax fully has a more manta ray like appearance here, and the pink highlights work awesomely to give him a splash of color. And that pose is very intimidating.

    Ehlek by VelociJACKtor

    Ehlek

Ehlek got to be a bit lankier here, but that face is still quite sinister, the the trans green fins on his back really sell his electrical powers. The lime on his body really pops out, but I am very impressed with his cross-bow like weapon.

    Takadox by Johann Dakitsch

    Takadox

Takadox actually looks a bit less intimidating here; he could easily become sea chow for any of the other characters. But his mantis shrimp appearance is far more evident, and the head design is great. I suppose he will have to rely on his hypnosis instead of his strength.

    Pridak by Ryan Z

    Pridak

Pridak never quite looked like a shark to me originally, but the head on this MOC is much more accurate. The rest of the model is perhaps less shark like, but it has some good flow to it. The best part; the use of the Bohrok shield to represent 'red paint' dripping down the side of his arm. That is ridiculously good parts usage there!

    Jaller by The Maestro

    Jaller

Jaller is well prepared for battle, as his suit is totally decked out with crazy features. It's a little chaotic at times, but I am impressed with the various designs on him. He even has a dish to help with his mask's sonar powers.

    Hahli by Dviddy

    HAHLI MAHRI: TOA OF WATER

Hahli was my personal favorite set from 2007, even with the fragile lime pieces. This MOC boosts her up even further, with some great shaping and nice mix of lime and dark blue. Her wings are the true highlight here. Of course, the coral base is also well done.

    Hewkii by Jayfa

    Hewkii

Hewkii got bulked up, and the Keetorange getting downgraded to highlights still actually works for him. There's a lot to like here, from his upgraded breathing apparatus, the modified Cordak blaster, and the detailed chest design. This looks like a Toa who could rough you up.

    Nuparu by Toddrick

    Nuparu

Nuparu is fully embracing his black armor here (with a few nice red highlights) and he was some very nifty arm blades. This engineer looks very serious.

    Kongu by BallomNomNom

    Kongu

I always thought Kongu ended up as kind of a joke set, but this Toa Mahri is beefed out and well armed with blasters everywhere. The brighter lime serves as a nice jump suit, and he's really to blow his way out of any situation.

    Matoro by Buttloaf_Builds

    Matoro

Matoro gets his Ignika here, and although he still has his hunch, he's much improved over the original set, having a fancy new blaster and even a prototype piece as his claw. The sand blue elements are a nice highlight.

    Sarda by Iache

    Sarda

Sarda bulked out with his new armor, looking very much like a deep sea diver. The light gray and dark red work really well together, and I like the technical details in the torso panels. The rounded bits on the shoulders should help with the water pressure, so he can explore freely.

    Idris by Pohaturon

    Idris

Idris appears to have been mutated into a mermaid, but I am here for it. The angular torso (with the nice blue diamond heart light) transitions nicely to the dark blue tail, and the custom mask shape is fun too.

    Defilak by Toddrick

    Defilak

Defilak is a bit more slender than some of the others, but still has plenty of character. From the use of the faceplate in his torso to the rubber bits on his thighs to his fancy blade, he has a lot of cool parts. Of course, the best is probably the Mohawk over his mask.

    Dekar by The Secret Walrus

    Dekar

Dekar might be the most like his original set, but the details here are a big improvement. The Nexo Knight shields on his torso are cool, and the arm designs are quite inspired.

    Thulox by Rockmonster 2000

    Thulox

Thulox appears more technical, especially with the 90s space tile on his head. That blaster design is also very intimidating.

    Morak by Eero Okkonen

    Morak

Morak really brings the blue and makes good use of the various trans opal blue pieces. The head is a bit comical, but that gun is no laughing matter!

    Lesovikk by Sandro Quattrini

    Lesovikk

Lesovikk is speeding in for the rescue, and the lime green really pops out well for him. I like the mask design, and the binoculars launcher on his glider did make me question the size of this model, since it looks so much like the larger gattling weapons.

    Karzahni by DanielBrickSon

    Karzahni

Karzahni here looks very beefy while still being a bit intimidating with that head. The designs of the legs and torso are pretty cool, but the inclusion of the Exo Force arm chains is the best.

    Nocturn by [VB]

    Nocturn

Nocturn was always a popular character, and this take on him makes him exceptionally creepy with the various tentacles. The color balance is really good here, and the somewhat low light appearance also helps make him look like a creature of darkness. Plus, that expression he has; that's evil, that is!

    Gadunka by Cody Avery

    Gadunka, Modified Angler

Gadunka was a weird set that was basically a head with limbs. This MOC makes him into more of a angler fish with limbs, and it works. I like the very technical look of the arms and legs, making him appear to be more of an upgrade than a mutation. But the fish parts in the various glow in the dark blue pieces still look good, and the inclusion of the angler light is the best.

    Hydraxon by Poor Disadventaged

    Hydraxon

Hydraxon looks a bit more like the noble jailer than his original set. Sure, he still carries some crazy weapons and has those nice repeating shoulder spikes, but the cape and yellow torso breathe some nice extra color into him. Plus, the key on his belt is a great addition.

    Maxilos and Spinax by Gamma-Raay

    Maxilos and Spinax

This Maxilos looks a bit more filled out than the original set, and the stark red and gunmetal colors work together. He's still intimidating, but not nearly as much as Spinax, who has some great organic shaping to him and makes good use of the zip line pieces along his back. Great pose too. These two are not ones you want to encounter underwater.

    Pit Brutaka by Ivan Martynov

    Mutated Brutaka

Brutaka's mutation did not do him any favors. His lanky shaping is a bit more comical than some of the other entries, although the armor designs are still quite sleek. But that yelling face and the squid he is stretching out offer good gags for the set. (The mini squid in the background is also cute.)

    Squid Ammo by Kevin H

    Squid Ammo

I'm sure a lot of us barely count the squid ammo as a legit set, but this detailed specimen really pulls through with the various details and hungry face. This is one squid you wouldn't want to see shot towards you.

That's all the MOCs for this Collaboration. Thanks for viewing, and stay tuned to BZPower for more Bionicle MOC features by our talented members!
