Bio-Cup 2022 Round One Part 5
Saturday, July 9th, 2022 at 1:50am by Jason, BZPower Reporter
We're almost at the end of the second round of Bio-Cup 2022, which means I need to wrap up our coverage of Round One. There have been some very impressive Kaiju we've featured, so let's look at one last batch of the winners who progressed onto the next round.
HMAS Lacerta Navis by Ryan Z Subtheme: Aquatic
This aquatic lizard looks quite shapely, and the cool blue and yellow color scheme really helps it out. The battleship built into its back give it nice duality.
Vulcanus, a.k.a "The Big One" by Ted Andes Subtheme: Robotic
This is an impressive Titan, and makes really good use of the burnt orange elements to give it a solid appearance. The smoke elements on the back help sell its steampunk vibes.
Canterbury Harvest by Braylon Turner Subtheme: Elemental
This one gives me the vibe of an Evangelion Angel. The netting to give the interesting angles with the shoulder plants is quite impressive, as is the head using the trap pieces. I'm sure the owners of that windmill are going to be quite surprised.
Kaiju by jakes_brick_hoard Subtheme: Aquatic
This critter makes excellent use of the rare metallic blue elements by repeating them a lot to give it a curved shell, and the sparkly Eternals blades as legs compliment it nicely. The skeleton helps give this a sense of scale... because while I initially thought it was supposed to be a bird skull, it's actually the skeleton of a massive whale.
The Motherbeast of Klaxxon 4 by Sharreek mocs Subtheme: Extraterrestrial
The green spheres stuffed into the various tires gives this creature an amazing appearance that is quite striking. While the arms appear more like a length of chain, the body is quite solid, and the two color combo works very well here.
The Wrong Place to Park by J6Crash Subtheme: Reptile
This was one of the last minute entries, but it still impresses. The two dino heads are quite good, but the eye catching bit is the boat tile scales that run along the body with a nice contrasting stripe of blue. The crushed car for scale really sells this menacing monster.
After You, Betobeto-san by Max Howell Subtheme: Mythological
This is a very inspired depiction of the Japanese folktale. The wooden sandals are instantly recognizable, but the amazing designs in the head are what truly impresses.
A Bright Light over the Dark Sea Attracts More Than Ships Looking for a Safe Passage by Eero Okkonen Subtheme: Insectoid
Of course a giant moth would be attracted to a lighthouse. The use of plant elements really sells the hairy legs of the moth, which also has cool wings and a fun tail covered with flags. While the lighthouse itself is mostly system based, the CCBS armor incorporated in the base is a nice touch.
Ganonboar by Dylan Mievis Subtheme: Beast
This boar is quite impressive; I especially like the detailed hooves and red tuffs of hair around the shoulders. The nose also stands out for it's fun design. That Hero is in for a tough fight.
The Erymanthian Boar by MySnailEatsPizza Subtheme: Mythological
Hey, we got two amazing boars in this round. This one has a bit of a sleeker design, with only a single mane of bright orange spikes along its back. You know this one is tough because it has a bunch of weapons impaled in its side but it's not bothered by them at all.
That's it for Bio-Cup Round One, but we'll see the Number themed entries for Round Two shortly, so make sure to stay tuned to BZPower to check out our coverage. There are a lot of impressive MOCs being entered this year for sure. I wonder who'll win the top spot?
