Bio-Cup 2022 Round One coverage continues as we feature more massive Kaiju creatures. One of the best ways to respond to (or flee from) a Kaiju is to get in a vehicle and move towards or away from them at high speed. As such, a lot of entries features various mini craft to give their creations some resistance and a proper scale for their size. And that will be the key factor for the entries featured today!

    Mōfu Ikari

This alien manta ray has some fun shaping and nice use of bright colors underneath the black wings. Coupled with it is a small spaceship design as it blasts around nebulas, unaware of the approaching danger. The Knights Kingdom masks are cool, but the shaping of the stacked spiders is very interesting.

    BLUE SCR33N 0F DEATH

And this is why you need to properly update your computers... or at least be nice enough to them that they don't attack you when they grow in size. This is a fun concept and I like how the very robotic monster has an old school monitor as a head. Still, the highlight is the bridge and the semi truck, which excellently uses the Hero Factory head for the cab.

Hobbag the Glurbleoid by C Drifter
    Subtheme: Extraterrestrial

    Hobbag the Glurbleoid

This is a hungry space blob head, and quite expressive too. I like the positioning of the eye to locate its next snack. The mini space speeder is fun too; although the blur does give it the appearance of speed, a cleaner shot would've been appreciated too.

    Ctenosaura by Ron Folkers
    Subtheme: Reptile

    Ctenosaura

This giant lizard is getting shot at by a couple of cool micro-planes... and apparently handling it alright. The head is pretty clever, but the striping along the back is very eye catching and the highlight of the MOC.

    Arthropodal Annihilation by VelociJACKtor
    Subtheme: Insectoid

    Arthropodal Annihilation

This insect is truly monstrous, and has even been able to take down one of the neat attack helicopters. Normally a visible socket from a CCBS armor piece is a bit unsightly, but the repeated use of them along the belly gives it an unusual texture that helps sell the model. (The many creepy legs help too.)

    Cirripedia Colosseus by Gengo Builds
    Subtheme: Aquatic

    Cirripedia Colosseus

For a more nautical take, this undersea monster features a lot of cool ship designs built into its limbs, which are immediately recognizable even in the chaos of the design. The upsidedown Pakari is an interesting touch too.

ROBO SNAIL 2099 by Inferno Mocs
    Subtheme: Robotic

    ROBO SNAIL 2099

There have been a lot of cool shell designs seen before in these contests, but the rotating Hero Factory feet give this a nice texture that feels distinctly robotic, while the eyes and mouth give it personality. Those mini tanks are totally outclassed.

Malgamoise - The Reptile Chimera by Petersheikah

    Malgamoise - The Reptile Chimera

I really like the overall design of this two headed dragon; it might not be the sleekest, but it seems to have the feel of a campy old monster movie and I dig it. The inclusion of the attack planes give a sense of motion to this scene that is very good photo editing.

Omega Mecha Reptillion by Just Torp
    Subtheme: Robotic

    Omega Mecha Reptillion

Given that this was a Kaiju contest, it's surprising that we didn't see more Godzilla-style monsters, essentially the King of Kaiju. The various silver elements used here give it a great robotic texture that totally fits, with plenty of greeble while remaining true to the overall shape. The inclusion of the stealth jet is a nice sleek touch.

    Kamori by Aiden Builds
    Subtheme: Beast

    Kamori

This bat makes a great addition to the Kaiju theme, especially with it's imposing size compared to those jet fighters. The orange hair on the head and body looks quite good, and the CCBS shells as ears work remarkably well. Still, the wings are the bit that catches my eye with the multiple plastic coverings filling out the full span. Quite impressive.

We've still got a lot more MOCs to feature from the Bio-Cup Round One, so make sure to stay tuned to BZPower to see more of them. There are a lot of impressive MOCs being entered this year for sure. I wonder who'll win the top spot?
