How a LEGO Videogame Became a Beloved Building Tool
Hot Bionicle NewsPosted on Thursday, December 9th, 2021 at 9:40am by Andrew, BZPower News Manager

Yesterday the latest episode of the Bits N' Bricks podcast was released, diving into the original LEGO digital creative sandbox - LEGO Creator - as well as its sequels. In Season 4, Episode 43 - The LEGO Game That Unlocked True Digital Creation, hosts Ethan Vincent and Brian Crecente talk to former LMI executive producer Rob Smith, Qube Software founder and former CEO Servan Keondjian, and Ronny Scherer, who worked on Project Arena (and also produces the podcast). They discuss how LEGO Media International entered the world of building with digital bricks, LEGO Creator and it's many sequels, and how the series eventually spawned LEGO Digital Designer, LEGO Factory, Design byME, and other offerings over the years. It's pretty fascinating but also a little sad, seeing how the company 'threw out' a lot of efforts over the years only to start from scratch again. It's great to see the inside story though, and I appreciate the candor!
