    Bio-Cup 2021 Round 1 Part 5
Hot Bionicle NewsMonday, July 5th, 2021 at 3:07am by Jason, BZPower Reporter

One thing that Bio-Cup has down for the last couple of years is Redemptions Rounds. These are for the builders who didn't qualify to continue on in the competition but still want to make something for the round's theme. While these are no longer in the running for the top spot, there are prizes being given away to the best of the bunch, making it worthwhile to contribute to. As such, I'll also take a look at some of the Round 1 Redemption Round MOCs, so read on to see them too.

    Accelerator by Dungeon Master
    Subtheme: Comics

    Accelerator.

This looks like a crazy concept between a building and a monster, and the repeated texture looks pretty good. The red elements stand out from the black and give it and eerie look.

Lizardman Tribal Warrior by Samuel Porter
    Subtheme: Video Games

    Lizardman tribal warrior

Now this is a dark green lizardman. I'm not a huge fan of the gappy arms, but the legs and torso are very solid, and the snake head is put to very good use. This guy will probably do a good job at defending his swamp.

    Mewtwo by Eli Venarske
    Subtheme: Video Games

    Mewtwo built for Biocup 2021

This feels like a very classic Bionicle style of MOC, with some interesting textures but excellent overall shaping. The head and upper torso are probably the best, making this instantly recognizable as the popular Pokemon.

    Ex-Box E-girl by Rafael Santiago
    Subtheme: Video Games

    Ex-Box E-girl

I'm not quite sure what this is supposed to be, but the black and lime color blocking makes it look impressive, and I like the colorful spikes in the one hand. The legs in particular are well done.

Eugene Krabs & Sheldon Plankton by C Drifter
    Subtheme: TV / Film (Animation)

Eugene Krabs & Sheldon Plankton (Biocup Redemption)

This guy certainly have a rough look, but Mr. Krabs is instantly recognizable The head is quite inspired, and I also like the hockey elements as his claws. Who's hungry for a Krabby Patty now?

DJ MK K by Ethan Westervelt
    Subtheme: Music?

    Dj mk K

If this is the DJ at your venue then I think you might have some bigger concerns other than music selection. The head is the main attraction here, with the cool use of Hero cores as his teeth. The rest of the build looks solid but does blend in with the background; it makes it hard to appreciate the design but does help set the mood for the image.

    Cruci-lifeform by GK 733
    Subtheme: Painting / Drawing

    Cruci-lifeform

The winner of the Round 1 Redemption Round is this clever art piece. The larger character has an interesting look, but the head is the bit that really sells him, with the clever squishing of the rubber parts into the Inika mask. The smaller companion has an equally interesting head with netting around it to provide texture. Then there's the big T design which uses a lot of pieces and does a nice job of recreating the original artwork. A lot of the interesting designs here make this one worthy of being a winner!

There sure have been some cool MOCs in this contest, and it's been fun sharing them with you. Round Two is nearing its end soon, so I look forward to seeing the next batch of cool MOCs. So stay tuned to BZPower to see some more featured creations from the contest.
