    Day 20 - Roboriders Collab
BZPowerTuesday, December 22nd, 2020 at 12:14am by Jason, BZPower Reporter

2020 has been a hectic year in many ways, but we've seen some great Bionicle creations pop up, despite the theme being long since retired. From Bio Cup to the Canon Contests, there's been some great MOCs out there, and now we're looking to share a few more. And so we're going to try something a little different this month; instead of featuring images from a LEGO Advent calendar, we're instead going to feature Bionicle MOCs from this year. I spent some time browsing through the BZPower Flickr page and handpicked some of my favorite builds, and I'll be posting one a day for 24 days (sorta) straight!

    Day 20 - Roboriders Collab

The Roboriders was a small theme that came out just before the juggernaut that was Bionicle, so they don't often get as much attention in MOCs. So that's what makes the Roborider Collab all the more exciting; in addition to recreations of the primary sets, they even redid some of the small promotional sets from the theme in some really clever ways. Read on to check out the full lineup by -Disty-, Tino Poutiainen, The Secret Walrus, Poor Disadvantaged, optimus-convoy, Cody Avery, JakTheMad, Gamma-Raay, Redverse, Djokson, Cezium, and Brick_Diamonds.

VOLCANO CLIMBER | MiniRider 8003 by -Disty-

    VOLCANO CLIMBER | MiniRider 8003

This one looks like a very impressive muscle car. The red covers on the top flow nicely, and I appreciate the unique head design, complete with accompanying flames.

POWER BIKE | MiniRider 8004 by Tino Poutiainen

    Power Bike | MiniRider 8004

This is an impressive recreation of the small model, and despite not being too large itself it packs in a lot of detail and makes some nice use of the stickers.

ICE EXPLORER | Minirider 8005 by The Secret Walrus

    Ice Explorer | Minirider 8005

White not quite a motorbike, this is a good recreation of the mini copter set, and the various round connectors give this model a smooth flow, with the blue highlights popping nicely from the white and black elements.

SWAMP CRAFT | MiniRider 8006 by Poor Disadvantaged

SWAMP CRAFT | MiniRider 8006 (Speed Mode)

SWAMP CRAFT | MiniRider 8006 (Flight Mode)

The original mini model was pretty weird, but this transforming glider is very impressive in how it takes inspiration from the original model and still transforms into a very impressive bike. I especially like the design of the green body around the lime head piece.

    SWAMP | Rider 8509 by optimus-convoy

    SWAMP | Rider 8509

This might be my favorite pure recreation of the actual set, as it captures the shape and color and keeps the wacky action feature with the swords intact. The head looks very impressive, but I'm also impressed that the back tires are held using insectoid legs. NPU!

LAVA | Rider 8510 by Cody Avery

    LAVA | Rider 8510

Lava has a pretty sleek look to it, and the red Pakari at the front really ties it in. However, I do appreciate the brain pod in the back seat as well.

FROST | Rider 8511 by JakTheMad

    FROST | Rider 8511

The main body here is just as impressive as the other MOCs, but what really captures the attention here is the detailed head design, which really gives the model some extra character!

    ONYX | Rider 8512 by Gamma-Raay

    ONYX | Rider 8512

    ONYX

This Onyx has a very sleek body made using lots of great panels. But this time the build seems almost secondary from the actual photography, which makes excellent use of lighting to set the futuristic mood for the picture.

DUST | Rider 8513 by Redverse

    DUST | Rider 8513

The main body has some great angles mixed in with the various tubes and click hinges, and the use of the halberds is also appreciated. Of course, the craziest designs here are the unique wheels.

POWER | Rider 8514 by Djokson

    POWER | Rider 8514

In my head, Power was always the title set from the brief theme, and this MOC delivers. The detailed arms harken back to the set being the only one to utilize balljoints, and the weapon is quite clever. Of course, the Znap piece used under the head can't be ignored either. A really great design here!

THE BOSS | Rider 8516 by Cezium

    THE BOSS | Rider 8516

This is a crazy concept for a motorcycle but it's still super impressive as well. The wheel arms are very detailed and some of the gaps between the liftarms give it a very mechanical look. The coloring is also a plus, with the yellow exhaust vents and wires popping out nicely from the grays and blacks.

CRASH | ComboRider XXXX by Brick_Diamonds

    CRASH | ComboRider XXXX

This is a cool MOC based on one of the combo models of the sets that ended up being more humanoid than the others. I was surprised at how small the model was, as the use of the minifigure fist weapons made me think it was at a larger scale at first. Still, it packs in a bunch of nice details, including more carefully placed stickers and a good use of the curved tiles on the torso's emblem.

Stay tuned for more cool Bionicle MOCs as the month continues!
