    Toy Fair 2020: Star Wars
Hot Bionicle NewsSunday, February 23rd, 2020 at 5:03pm by Andrew, BZPower News Manager

Love it or hate it, LEGO Star Wars is here to stay. I happen to love it, so I'm always excited to see what LEGO comes up with for Star Wars sets each year. As you'll see with most of our Toy Fair coverage, what we saw was primarily sets that are already on store shelves, which is unfortunate, but there were three sets that aren't available yet, including one that had not even been announced at the time of the show! To learn about them all, read on!

    Star Wars

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 10 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 11

    75263 Resistance Y-wing Microfighter

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 24

    86 Pieces. 6+
    $9.99
    Available in January

The Microfighters sub-theme has entered its seventh series this year, so I guess they're doing well. I kind of lost interest after the first couple of waves, but some of them are great opportunities to pick up minifigures that otherwise would not exist or only show up in expensive sets, like Zorii Bliss here.

    75264 Kylo Ren's Shuttle Microfighter

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 21

    72 Pieces. 6+
    $9.99
    Available in January

As above, this pretty much seems like a good way to get a new deco on the Kylo Ren minifig. The ship itself isn't too impressive.

75265 T-16 Skyhopper vs Bantha Microfighters

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 22

    198 Pieces. 6+
    $19.99
    Available in January

This is a weird one, considering one of the builds isn't even a 'fighter,' but an animal. I love the life the T-16 has had, considering the only time you ever see it in the films is when Luke Skywalker plays with a model of one. Both of the builds are nice, and I especially like the brick-built bantha.

    75266 Sith Troopers Battle Pack

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 13 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 15

    105 Pieces. 6+
    $14.99
    Available in January

Battle Packs can be hit or miss, depending on what you're looking for. If you're trying to make a diorama of the battle at the end of The Rise of Skywalker, then this is perfect. Otherwise you can probably skip it.

    75268 Snowspeeder

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 25

    91 Pieces. 4+
    $19.99
    Available in January

As a '4+' set (I still think of them as 'Juniors'), there's nothing very exciting here, other than a new (I think) Wedge Antilles minifig.

    75269 Duel on Mustafar

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 12 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 14

    208 Pieces. 7+
    $19.99
    Available in January

For a small $20 set, I think this captures the scene from Revenge of the Sith pretty well. I don't think I'd necessarily want a bigger version of it either, as I don't think a LEGO set of a bunch of lava would be that exciting. So this does things just fine.

    75270 Obi-Wan's Hut

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 23

    200 Pieces. 7+
    $29.99
    Available in January

This is a cute little set, but the minifigs don't look like they're different from some of the recent iterations we've had. The main selling point here is the Princess Leia hologram piece, which is cool!

    75272 Sith TIE Fighter

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 16 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 17 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 18

    470 Pieces. 9+
    $79.99
    Available in January

As a lover of all kinds of TIE Fighters, this one looks kind of disappointing. The wings look cool, but the cockpit and pylons look very dull and boring. But it's the only way to get one of the Knights of Ren, if you're willing to spend $80 on it...

    75273 Poe Dameron's X-wing Fighter

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 26

    761 Pieces. 9+
    $89.99
    Available in January

I think this is the third minifig-scale version of the T-70 X-Wing that LEGO has released so far - each with a different color scheme, but all piloted by Poe Dameron. The design on this one seems rather different, thankfully, and hopefully the build and minifigs can help justify the $90 price. I know it's accurate to the film, but the color scheme just doesn't do it for me.

    75278 D-O

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 01 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 02 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 03 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 04 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 05 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 06 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 07 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 08 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 09

    519 Pieces. 10+
    $69.99
    Available in April

This set was a bit of a surprise to see, since it hadn't been released or even announced yet. It looks great and definitely captures the cuteness of D-O from the film. It looks like a fun build too with a lot of neat little details. I can't wait to get a copy and display it next to BB-8.

    Star Wars: The Mandalorian

    75267 Mandalorian Battle Pack

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 19 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 20

    102 Pieces. 6+
    $14.99
    Available in January

Now this Battle Pack is awesome and a must-buy for any fan of The Manadlorian who also likes LEGO. You get four different Mandalorian warriors, each with unique printing. Unlike the Sith pack, you probably won't have to buy more than one, but it still rocks.

    75292 The Razor Crest

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 36 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 37 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 40 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 43 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 44 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 45 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 46 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 47

    1023 Pieces. 10+
    $129.99
    Available in August

This set was announced right before Toy Fair and thankfully we got to see it up close at the show. The minifigs are great especially Baby Yoda The Child, and the ship itself looks cool from the outside. The cargo bay was a little bare, but it was neat to see the details of bounties frozen in carbonite stored inside. I didn't get to see all of the play features, but as a fan of the show this is probably a must-buy, even for $130.

75317 The Mandalorian & The Child

Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 27 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 28 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 29 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 30 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 31 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 32 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 33 Toy Fair 2020 Star Wars 34

    295 Pieces. 10+
    $19.99
    Available in August

Not everyone likes BrickHeadz, but this duo is awesome. Mando and The Child capture all of the details you'd expect and even have a nice variety of parts to boot. I see no reason not to grab this one when it comes out in August.

As much of a Star Wars fan as I am, I will readily agree that there are often as many misses as there are hits when it comes to LEGO sets. Most of the first-half models don't appeal to me, and I'm not planning on buying any except for the Mandalorian Battle Pack. I'll definitely be getting D-O and the new BrickHeadz though, and would like to get the Razor Crest as well, but we'll have to see what other LEGO sets they have planned for later in 2020. Thanks everyone for reading, and make sure you check out the rest of our Toy Fair 2020 coverage!
